Located in the vibrant East Passyunk and Fairmount sections of Philly, Wake Up Yoga is a welcoming space for pregnant and postpartum women. Founder and instructor Corina Benner has realized the vision of creating “a safe haven in the midst of urban chaos, and a sacred place… to practice.”
Upon entering, you can feel the centeredness of the practitioners and teachers. There is an immediate feeling of warmth and inclusion in the space. At the East Passyunk location there are two prenatal classes offered per week, one at 6 PM on Wednesdays and the other at noon on Saturdays. The classes are taught by a fellow new mom, Kate DeRosa Howell, who mindfully incorporates the beauty of motherhood into the practice of yoga to create joyful yet challenging classes for the soon-to-be mommies. Classes offered at Wake Up offer the possibility of yoga for all levels of practice and abilities. The Slow, Steady and Sweet classes are well suited for new moms who need a gentle postpartum practice and Mommy and Me classes are also available.
